Suggest NG musicians to follow

Posted by spoonman420 - June 29th, 2023

So, I'm just discovering a few super-incredibly talented musicians on NG. But they are hard to find. Can anyone suggest other people to follow so I can enjoy their work? I prefer band-type music but I appreciate electronic music too.

-----

Hearing the music from recommendations reminded me of other genres of music that I once enjoyed. It's been a long time since I last hunted down artists, and I'm glad to find many on NG. The best part is being able to actually interact with them. So, feel free to drop a message here, any genre of music is welcome. You can send your favorite tracks. Thanks!

follow @Creeperforce24, he does electronic music

Thanks for the reply and suggestion, Diamondmanpixel76... Amazing work, considering your age bracket...

Sup, I’d say x-500 is a good artist

Thanks @Creeperforce24 ...wow, the quantity of work you and @x-500 made is insane!

@spoonman420 @X-500
Thanks

I have a lot of recs...

If you want your dark and disturbing, @LD-W.

If you want ambient of all flavours, @ForgottenDawn.

If you want Celtic and Finnish folk inspired music, @etherealwinds and @lucidshadowdreamer. If you want some soul-stirring music across genres, @Phonometrologist, @Codefreq and @AlbeGian.

@vocaloutburst, @father-p, @cepukka, @tenby and @zenkusaa for digital fusion things.

@fogheart, @modalmodule, @disomikron, @random-storykeeper, @connorgrail, @irish-soul, @wobwobrob for VGM.

@everratic, @petersatera, @zaazng and @acemantra come to mind for orchestral things.

@tapestoppa is a fledgling dubstep producer! Also @djchidow for house, and @vadellgabriel too. @ModernBard does Europop and disco influenced things.

If you want singer songwriter stuff, @akiodaku @thatjohnnyguy. @Shiverwar and @Mackievellian do rock things that I think you'd like.

Thank you!! Yeah, I like LD-W's.. dark and disturbing, haha! Maybe his entry for AIM wasn't what you were referring to(?) I'm fine with dark, but I don't like disturbing.. But LD's I didn't find disturbing at all, more like cinematic, orchestral? Idk, I suck at genres/sub genres. Thanks for all the recommendations, Trois...

@Troisnyx is right, a good example would be my track I did with her, @chromacee and @vadellgabriel, Underground.

Cool! Are you guys, like, neighbors, or did you send each other files on the internet? Reminds me of Postal Service... Thanks for dropping a message, DJChidow!

In relation to Troisnyx's post & your response to it: I mainly have a 'Dark/Infamous' reputation in the audio community for a number of other pieces (some of which I have unlisted for quality reasons tbh). Most notably these ones:

@LD-W ...whole half diminished, is that what Radiohead used on the song 'Just'?

All of this was done online! I'm the furthest away from this group of four, based in the UK.

Music collaboration is always a fun project... The first time I signed up on Newgrounds, I immediately went to the 'Ads' section (?) for collab, and I was able to collaborate... somewhat. I sang on one of the 'author's' compositions... I should upload it I think... yeah :)

@spoonman420 Yep! 'Just' is in Whole-Half Diminished, whilst 'Lament of Dissolving Angels' is in Half-Whole Diminished. Fundamentally all the same keys in each mode, but a small difference in how each one starts/is approached. Whole-Half seems to be used moreso in Jazz, while Half-Whole seems to be used moreso in Blues, but there's no strict genre-restrictions over either of them, as it's also common to see both used in alot of Metal, and I enjoy using them semi-melodically for both the kind of Orchestral I do + Dark Ambient

Oh, I get it!!! I'm twisting my brain now, but It seems like I have a movable chord with 1 - 3m - 6
